Dawn uses breath, awareness, and movement to help people reduce pain, feel better, move better, and change their lives. She is in her 2nd year of a rigorous two-year International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT) Accredited Yoga Therapy Certification Training Program. She has been teaching yoga since 2005 and has over 2,300 hours of teaching since 2011 and over 200 private yoga therapy sessions in the past two years. Her goal is to help people feel better (mind, body, spirit) so they can find their own power and bring more good into the world. She has taught yoga to a variety of people from pregnant moms, school children, college athletes, former military, MMA fighters, college professors, farmers, and everyone in between including her own parents in their late 70s. She believes in helping people heal, develop resiliency, and be their best selves.

Dawn has more than 1000 training hours including Anatomy, Kinesiology of Yoga and Therapeutic Yoga Intensive -Functional Synergy. YogaFit Levels 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. Pre-Natal/Postpartum, Sweat, Props, Kids, Seniors, Restorative Therapeutics, Pranayama, YogaBack, Anatomy and Alignment Levels 1 and 2, and YogaFit for Warriors (for people with PTSD.) Additional education in Kinesiology at Western Illinois University including Anatomy and Physiology, Sport and Exercise Psychology, Motor Behavior, and Wellness Program Development and Administration. She has a MS in Instructional Design.

How Dawn teaches

Dawn helps you move your body in ways that create balance, strength, and flexibility to create long-lasting change. She helps you challenge yourself without pain so you can grow.

Yoga is different for everyone due to age, body size, physical issues, injuries, etc., so options are offered so you can be successful in the body you’re in.

You don’t have to be flexible (or fit) to do yoga, that comes little by little, as you practice.

She teaches group classes, private sessions, and Yoga Therapy sessions, so you can find the right class whether you’re a beginner or high level athlete and whether you’re healthy or healing.

Dawn has been practicing yoga since 2000 and teaching since 2005. She taught yoga flow, restorative, and relaxation classes at the WIU Spencer Recreation Center from 2007 to 2013.

“The yoga therapy components of my teaching are based on my completion in Functional Synergy’s  Kinesiology of Yoga, Therapeutic Yoga Intensive, Post Intensive Integration Package, and Certification Prep Program. In addition, I am participating in Functional Synergy’s rigorous two year IAYT Accredited Yoga Therapy Certification Training Program which is a non-Yoga Alliance Registry qualification. My credentials are not derived from my status as an E-RYT with Yoga Alliance Registry.”
